"Quote -As you are aware this Association has taken on the task of having a statue of a sailor erected in Brisbane. I emphasise that although this Association is the driving force behind its erection, it will represent the entire Royal Australian Navy a fact we are very proud of. The site chosen is an unused plinth situated in Southbank standing opposite the old entrance to the Queensland Maritime Museum, which will give it the naval relevance the Council required. Unless informed otherwise, we are of the opinion that there is no single standing statue of a sailor in Queensland making it all the more rewarding. unquote"

On behalf of the Organizing Committee of the Statue Memorial I want to thank all those members who have donated to the Memorial to date, we are a third of the way to achieving our target. Our aim is for the unveiling during our forthcoming AGM Reunion in July marking the 60th. year since the Arunta &Warramunga were sent to the Malayan Emergency, time has become our latest enemy so to all those who served in the RAN in whatever capacity we ask you to give the matter of donating $200.00 to the memorial some considerable thought you will not only have your name inscribed in bronze on the plinth you will be enshrining your service for future generations and help erect the only Naval Memorial Statue in Queensland.
